2016 Weekly Book Challenge-Week 1, "Paper Towns" by J. Green

One of my 2016 Committments is to complete a one-week-one-book challenge: at the end, quoting Mr. Elon Musk quoting a random nerdy web cartoon, "books is how people install new software in their brain". Fact is, I always loved reading. When I was a teenage I read multiple books per week, each week. And good books too. University and computers changed this, and the challenge then is change it back, but better, something like a Hegelian synthesis. Hopefully, it will last more than 52 weeks this time..

So here we go with the first entry of the year: Paper Towns (2008), from J. Green.   

Very nice story, and a quite very well written volume. Enriching novel to begin a year with, nevermind the unexpected and slightly disappointing ending. The style remids me a little of early  Jonathan Coe's novels. 350 pages but they keep your eyes on the story till you've got to its end, it only took me 5 hours to finish it. Plus, you get a bitter sense of societal disease of which we are, time to time, part of. I'd bet it makes a wonderful reading for those in the same age bracket of the main character, as Stefano Benni's Saltatempo did for me. I heard they've made a movie out of it but I did not watch it yet- also, I bet it will disappoint the Reader as movies seldom fail to do.

8.5/10 on my personal scale, but approaching a 9.
